The Kensington Runestone is believed to be one of the oldest records of Scandinavian exploration in existence. Discovered by a farmer in 1898, the stone’s inscription told a dark tale of settlement and murder—and today, there are very mixed feelings on whether the stone is authentic or a fabrication.

The Giant Ole in Alexandria, Minnesota

A huge black crow sits atop a 31-foot-long branch, itself atop a 25-foot-tall cement pedestal. Eighteen feet tall -- in all, 43 feet high -- this biggest of all birds has an eerie, pagan idol quality, particularly since it's so massive, so well-done, and so out in the middle of nowhere.

Pipestone National Monument in Pipestone ,Minneota

The monument occupies 282 acres. Quarries in Pipestone National Monument, southwestern Minnesota. According to Native American legend, the people and the stone were made of the same material, and thus the stone was to be used only for making pipes for religious and ceremonial use.
